Do you have a Labor and/or Employee Relations challenge you want to tackle? In this project, students working in teams will examine the critical issues and procedures regarding an organization. They will bring an understanding of the major aspects of labor – employee relations in union and non – union environments. Students will also demonstrate how balanced advocacy will facilitate harmonious work environment with employer, employee, and union. The implementation of models like Ideal, Unite, Win-Win, and the 8 C Models, will bring trustworthy relationships, develop better understanding, executing negotiation, effective communication and collaboration techniques between union and management organizations as well as help in adapting with the currents challenges like COVID – 19 Pandemic.

Learners in this program/experience explore a comprehensive overview of human resource management functions and its relevance in today’s environment. The key concepts of HRM will be taught and executed into Human Resource Strategic Plan Presentation of an Organization by the students. The course will cover the role of human resources, skills needed in HRM, Strategic plan creation, onboarding recruitment, selection, retention, job analysis and design, employee assessment, training and development. as well as communication.

Principles of Risk and Insurance Management

An individual or team of students from the University of California Riverside, University Extension can provide a fresh perspective, analysis, and recommendations for consideration, to support your organization with a specific problem or process. Using a consultant-friendly, project-driven approach, they will work together to research a Risk Management topic ( i.e. risk management culture, data assembly, risk analysis, strategic decisions, continuous improvement, legal issues, insurance, risk management process, etc. ). Students will conduct a comprehensive literature review (research) and investigate a specific risk management topic on behalf of a Client (business organization). Any potential gaps between the literature and the practical application of the Client’s proposed topic will be identified and recommendations made for improvement. Note :  The class size has been updated to represent the total # of students who actually selected and completed a project with a Riipen partnering organization.
