Denver, Colorado, United States
Description

The Colorado Community College System (CCCS) is partnering with Riipen, the leading work-based learning platform, to create new pathways supporting Denver’s climate resilience workforce. Through hands-on, employer-led projects in areas like scientific and market research, curriculum building, digital marketing, and data analysis for climate monitoring, learners gain essential skills and real-world experience. Learners are particularly interested in fields such as disaster risk reduction, water resource management, renewable energy, and climate policy, preparing them for impactful careers supporting climate resilience.

Previously, Colorado Community College System’s (CCCS) Rapid IT Training and Employment Initiative (RITEI) program partnered with Riipen to provide new pathways to the Denver region's tech sector. By combining data analytics and IT certificate programs with hands-on, employer-led projects, learners attain both the technical and professional skills as well as valuable work experience needed for today’s tech careers.

Experience feedback
This was the Building Decarbonization Coalition's first time working with Riipen and the Impact Projects: Climate Resilience. We value the model of experiential learning and the collaborative nature of the work. We also learned a great deal that will help inform our participation in future projects. It can be difficult to find discrete projects that align with the tight windows of availability, but when there opportunities, we will explore future collaborations. Thank you for the opportunity and the support of this project.
