Details

The Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington runs an Eyeglasses Recycling Program in the Washington, DC area. We want to increase awareness for donors about what happens to a pair of eyeglasses after they are donated.

We would like to collaborate with students to create an awareness video.

This will involve several different steps for the students, including:

  • Familiarizing themselves with the social cause, our mission and goals.
  • Scripting, laying out, and requesting source video.
  • Finding and applying suitable background music.
  • Adding text, transitions, and overlays to the video.

Bonus steps in the process would also include:

  • Presenting the video and making edits based on feedback.
  • Recommending ideas and editing tools for future awareness videos.
Deliverables

By the end of the project, students should demonstrate:

  • Understanding of the cause, our mission, and goals
  • Development of a video

Bonus steps would include:

  • Revising the video based on feedback
  • Recommending ideas and tools for future videos

Final deliverables should include

  • A finalized video.
Mentorship

Students will connect directly with us for mentorship throughout the project. We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:

  • Our organization’s mission and goals
  • Our awareness campaigns
  • Input on choices, problems or anything else the students might encounter.

We can provide much of the source video, under direction by students.
